Just as importantly, what kind of lens? Do NOT do HID unless you have the E-code (euro) lenses - you'll just blind oncoming drivers and pump most of your light into the sky overhead.

E-code lenses focus most of the light on the road, and have an E in a circle embossed in the glass. The US lenses, which disperse a large percentage of their light upward (ostensibly for overhead highway signs) have DOT or SAE on the glass. You can buy the E-code lenses separately.
