More on 17" Tires 850 1995

I read the thread below and was wondering if anyone had tried 205/50-17 sized tires on a '95 T5R Wagon? I don't have a traction problem, I have a ride qulity, sidewall bulge and dented rim problem with the Pirellis. My thinking is to provide more side to protect the rim and cushion. Tire choice would be Kuhmo 712 @ $106 each installed at America's Tire (Discount Tire) in Orange County, CA. Thanks for any and all comments.
