What is a PTC? n/m V70-XC70

Are you still lurking this board? I am glad you read this drivvle.

The PCT (pollution control turbo) is at the end of the vacuum line designed to relieve crankcase gas pressure and route the gasses to the intake air duct, just infront of the turbo. A hard to see area close to the firewall, the nipple will clog over time and needs to be cleaned every 100K, less if the turbo seldom gets used.
The PCT is a fragile piece of plastic and all it does is hold the vacuum tube to the intake pipe. It is usually cleaned with throttle body cleaner, a piece of wire or very small screwdriver.
If the PCT gets completely clogged, the crancase pressure will build up, just like the old PCV on NA engines, and start blowing seals.

Most dealers and mechanics ignore this simple cleaning job, they prefer to replace rear main seals and the oil breather box. More money.
