850 rear not level 850 1996

The rear driver's side of my volvo 850 turbo wagon is lower than the passenger side by atleast one inch - as in the chassis is closer to the tire on one side than the other. It does not seem to be affecting my driving yet. Anyone else has this problem and know what i should be looking at to diagnose/fix it? I know i hear a clunk from the rear whenever i go over bumps slowly.
