P0440 = EVAP Emission Control System Malfunction, not EGR.

You are correct, it is very hard to find the leak. Usually it is a crack in one of the hard plastic fittings. On the S70, there is a 90 degree bend near the fuel filter that decays over time.

Somewhere between the gas tank, the charcoal cannister, and the intake manifold. Throwing parts at it will not help, unless you get lucky.
