Disc Brake Pad Replacement 850 1995

To do the rear brakes on the FWD models you don't need to remove the calipers. It's a very similar setup to the 240s.

Get new pins and clips though.

I tend to take everything off most times anyway though so I can clean and lube everything up.

On the AWD models (like mine) you're supposed to be able to do the 'flip up' method and just remove one set of pins and flip the caliper up to replace the pads. Again I always pull it all off so I clean and relube the pins and make sure the little boots are on right and everything.

If you're replacing the park-brake shoes you need to take the caliper off completely because you need to remove the brake rotor. That's for both AWD and FWD.

On the front you do have to remove the caliper (most of it anyway). Again I usually pull the whole thing off. That's for both AWD and FWD.

There's a lot of debate about what to use for pads in the front. 'choose your poison'.

In the rear I'd definitely recommend going with ceramic pads if you haven't bought any already. If you're ordering online (like on FCP) they're only a bit more expensive and they are much better brakes.
