Check Engine Light S70 98

The "Check Engine Light" lit this summer after we stopped to refuel, but foolishly left the engine running due to outside hot temperatures, and need for the AC. I disconnected the battery for 50 seconds, and the light was off for two days; now it's back. The dealer did not want to reset it (?!). Any suggestions?
