I would like to hear responses from this topic.
My '94 is a great car for 167kmiles. The trouble light has been tripped for a year due to "EGR Valve". I replaced it with one from a 50,000 mile wrecked 850, and it stayed clear for 2 weeks, then popped back on. Before replacing the valve, I could see the carbon build up. If the hole is 3/4" in diameter, the hole had been congested about half way down. Didn't look good. I could clean out some of it I suppose, but what else is in there where I could not reach? What if I caused some of it to break off, and couldn't/didn't remove it? Would that cause problems elsewhere?
