wow! What a response, from your Retailer I mean...I guess they are not an exclusive Volvo Retailer, are they?
Anyway, they do not HAVE TO provide you with a loaner car unless you are in for a warranty repair. For regular maintenance, it is the responsibility of the customer to have alternative means of transportation or he/she can wait at the Retailer. Now, the PROPER thing to do is to have a fleet of loaner cars so that the customer is not inconvenience. But even then, quite a few customers will not be able to get a car. For example, we service at least 75 to 80 cars a day and we have one of the largest fleets of courtesy cars (all brand new 2001 or 2002 Volvos). But that fleet is 28 cars, which is a LARGE number. So, this means that the majority of our customers (daily) will not be able to get a loaner car. You just have to schedule it in a way that it does not create conflict.
If you are not happy with the arrangement they presented you with, perhaps you can look around for another Retailer...
