Windshield wipers 850 1995

There is some problem with my 95 850 driver's side wiper. the splines were worn. After I tighten it up, there is no slips; but the wiper blade won't touch the windshield when it gets to the up position. Is there any fix for this? or I need to buy a used transmission?
