1997 R engine replaced by 98 GLT engine. Good idea or bad?

It's not that I want to be cheap about it at all. I am in the process of establishing a new busines..and in this economy...
I talked to IPD. He said the TRW valves are of the same quality in his opinion as the Volvo version. I am putting a new water pump, tensioner, etc in even though the ones in the car have only 10K miles on them. I'm not even sure how long I will keep this car as I really want to get back into a 960 if I get another Volvo.
This little wagon is AWFULLY sweet though...
