which Tire pressure? V70-XC70 2001

I have a new V70 T5 with 235/45 R 17 Pirelli P6's

The gas tank door says inflate to 38 AND 38 For fuel economy as I understand.

Lower down it says inflate to 29 and 29

1) What is the general consensus on which pressure to go with?

2) How many miles can I get out of these tires with my 90% highway commute daily?

3) How much do they cost? Suggestion for replacements when comes due?

Great car! My laser speed detector went off first time yesterday. Curious as to how big the beam is at point of hitting car.
