chance to add 98v70 std to stable V70-XC70

It could be a good buy, or not. Check the tranny fluid first, it should be reddish and not brownish or smell burned. Not a good time to check the AC, the evaporators tend to leak (check the service records). New Tbelt at 140K max, probably less if the dealer swapped it at 60K.

If you take it for a test drive, before you start the car put the cabin blower and vent selector on auto. If all is well, the AC and recirc lights will not blink, if the car has ECC. If the blower switch has numbers, then it is not electronic.

Take a look at the instrument panel, where the temp and time are displayed. If the time is wrong and the temp in Centigrade, the battery had been disconnected. Owners do this to turn off the CEL, which works great for a few days and then turns back on - surprise!

The car is old enough to have the alternator inspected for proper voltage. If you daughter is like mine, buy a jumper battery to keep next to the spare tire. Not running the car for 4 weeks at a time will drain the battery.

Try to bring the price down, if you can. The car is 12 years old!

And good luck to your daughter. Mine is spending her last semester at Ohio Wesleyan.
