Very few tranny error codes light up a CEL, they must be severe to do so. There is a special code the TCU sends to the ECU, because the ECU is in charge of the CEL. Most tranny codes can be erased with a generic scanner, including the one that sets the CEL.
It is the TCU that causes the upshift arrow to blink.
No codes will be initiated if there is a programming fault. If there are any maintenance records, check for transmission code updates. Because there are few 06 models on the board, you could call the dealer service reps and ask if there are any TCU updates for 06. Just remember, the dealer charges for updates.
I am hardly an 'expert'. It is just that I read all of the posts and remember most of them. I only write what others have already expained. But, thanks anyway.
