What to do now. V70-XC70

Sounds like the timing belt slipped and you now have a damaged head.

Today, someone else found a solution to his P0014. The tensioner was wrong and the belt tension allowed the crank shaft to turn faster than the cams which caused the P0014.

In your case, that also sounds like the same thing. The 'spirited' driving actually allowed the belt to slip a few notches and the valves hit the pistons.

Either a new engine or rebuilt head is now required for your car. Cost will be between $1,000 to $2,000 to save the car from the scrap heap.

If the car was in otherwise good condition, the body is worth around $850. A good Craigslist price for a car needing a new head or engine is $1200-1500.
