Thx, Arno, for that info. I really like to have a bright side pattern for my night driving. You never know when a kid, dog, or MOOSE is lurking just off the road, and it's good to be warned of them. The HELLA fogs are great for this, but you are correct, don't expect them to project forwards.
Of course, if you have an older car, that uses conventional halogen lights, you can upgrade to cool HELLA H4 lamps, which are killer, and will handle extreme wattages, provided you use proper relays (burnt light switches smell horid). I used to run the HELLA headlights with 100/150w bulbs in my old GTI...for some reason, never needed fogs/driving lights or the highbeams, go figure. ;-)
