Trunk Struts Replaced 850 1995

I just replaced the trunk lid struts. Easy job, especially after getting help from this board. The only problem - the improvement was marginal, even with the brand new struts it takes some effort to lift the lid in the beginning (that was my wife's complaint and still is). But now it also very difficult to close. Ah well, you can't have it all.

Actually, I do not understand what's wrong with the torsion system used on cheaper cars. Why these high-tech struts?
