First rate analysis. I would complete the process by reporting your findings to the NHTSA for investigation and, if appropriate, prosecution. "ScanTech" sounds all very European, with its implications of quality engineering, metallurgy and manufacturing, but your experience could have lead to catastrophic failure and injury/death at speed.
