I think first you need to find the best service dept in your area. Then you need to hang around there for a few days to talk to the service manager(forget the servce writer tell the SM what you need/want), and ask him if there is a tech that he can say is one of the best in the shop....then talk to the tech, ask to see his Volvo update class plaques(or whatever their called). Ask how long hes been there, and if he plans to stay for a few years. Tell him that you expect the best of the best for your car, and will not stand for anything less that 100% quality service, and if this is what you get, you will have him do ALL the service on your Volvo. All this and it helps if you use this service dept for EVERYTHING that is done to your car....they are the only people who get to open the hood.

a few more things.......

Be the first guy through the door in the morning, and tell them you will wait for you car.

Use a Volvo ONLY dealer.

Make friends with the service wrter, but do not get too deep into what you need at each service(unless its something very small), just tell him you need to talk to the SM, or your tech.

I know all this dont sound easy, but it is what I did, and I have been using the same service dept for the last 10 years or more, with the same service manager and out of the 25 or so techs there I only let two or three of them work on my car......the ones that have been there the longest, and are able to take over as SM at any time if needed.

I would not deram of letting anybody other than these guys work on my car, and it was the fact that I can get this outstanding service that made me buy another new Volvo without any worries about service problems....these guys are the best and have NEVER let me down!
