Check Engine light reset, Mine did after running out of gas V70-XC70 1999

Ran out of gas one day, and the check engine light came on when i restarted. Called Volvo techs who said a fuel problem termporary or not will cause it to light, further that it wont reset itself.

Wrong on the second part. On the Second start after running out, it reset and its been over two monhts.
