Engine block heater and oil viscosity V70-XC70 2000

Living in Canada, I considered the installation of an engine block heater was deemed necessary on my XC for easy startups and quick heating in cold mornings. My question is, is it OKAY to use an oil viscosity of 10W-30 (I put in Mobil 1 btw..) with the combination of the block heater in winter, which will be plugged on a timer everytime I see -15C or below. This is my service manager's suggestion, but I wondered if 5W-30 weight would be easier for the engine and provide a better oil flow.. What you guys think?

Thanks!
