The throttle on your car is controlled electronically. There is a Throttle sensor at the gas pedal and an electronic throttle module attached to the intake manifold. When you step on the gas, the sensor sends a signal to the fuel injection computer, which in turn sends a signal to the throttle module to open the throttle. Chances are there is an internal throttle module fault and they will replace it.
