Re: Navigation Systems, Other and Volvo V70-XC70 2001

Robert, I can tell you that I've used several GPS auto-based systems and Volvo's is the easiest to use by far. The reason it costs so much to install at the dealership is because of all the labor involved in integrating the system (remember Volvo's is integrated as a motorized screen that comes up through the dash top), the extensive components (Volvo's RTI system is compatible with real-time traffic updates in other countries and once was said to be compatible with a now overdue system for the U.S. - there's more components in Volvo's system than most other system), and the software downloads needed.

We have this system in our '99 S80 T6 and '01 V70 T5. We also have the remote (ordered from Borton Volvo) which operates either system (and didn't require a software download as some had thought). If I can answer any questions about the functionality of the system let me know (I won't be able to provide any useful GPS details as you can though).

Thanks.

-rdo
