Did this car sit unused for some weeks or months?
I had a toyota engine burn oil like crazy after being unused.
Maybe burning a quart in 100 miles.

I put about a teaspoon of Mystery oil in each cylinder and let it
soak for three days while I was replacing the clutch.

After that soak, the car did a round trip Boston to Dayton and used
less than 1/2 qt. The oil consumption went down once that car was
returned to being a daily driver.
