If your fuel door lock is operating fine, it will open once you unlock driver´s door. The proceedure I suggested serves the purpose of unlocking it if the mechanism is stuck. It will not disable the system permanently. If the mechanism is faulty, chances are it will lock again after you close the fuel flap and lock the car again. At least now you know how to unlock it, if its really faulty.
