A hard reset means resetting all of the ECM values to zero and then going through the drive cycle, which could take a 100 miles.
Any scanner can clear the CEL, some clear too much. Just removing the battery cables and turning the key to position II will "hard" reset the ECM. But this will delay the CEL from returning if you still have a problem.
Are you sure you don't have a vacuum problem? If the error is because of too rich or too lean, that is not an O2 sensor problem.
