I'd also stick to the FWD if possible. I've grown weary of the AWD system in Volvo. For the record , I have a 98 AWD that's had driveshaft and bevel gear issues, with the bevel gear giving up recently (not thaaat bad for getting to 190k miles though)
I bought a BMW awd 3 months ago, my first non volvo in many years, based on my research of the awd problems.
