Does a 1996 850 have an "interference engine' (about timing belt...) 850 1996

If your mileage is original, and it is a 1996, you should change it now to be safe. If the belt is over ten years old it may be subject to rubber deterioration and failure. That is a Volvo service recommendation. Therefore you are four years past due!
