The last time you ran the car, was it for a very short time...like to just pull it out of the garage, or move it or something?

When you try to start it now, does it turn over real easy, like it has no compression in one or more cyl?

If either one of these things sounds about right to you, you have a well known problem that has to do with the intake valves sticking open just a bit in their guides. One of the Volvo techs here on the forum should know the "offical Volvo fix" for it.
