Check Engine Light 850 1995

With 55k relatively trouble free miles, my Check Engine Light has come on. Gas Cap tight, no drivability issues. In hopes that it is a fluke, how can I reset the light? Will disconnecting the battery work? How long should it be disconnected? (I have the radio code!)
