If your car, like my 98 V70 T5, has the blinking amber lights, but the heating/cooling system seems to operating correctly, then the lights may indicate a fault in one or more vent damper motors or linkage.
There are times when I can hear a vent damper "clonking" repeatedly. So far, it is not so annoying that I want to disassemble my fascia to repair it.
Be vary careful cleaning the cabin temperature sensor. It is quite fragile. Toothpicks, tweezers, and gentle puffs of breath are all you really need.
Good luck.
