Update: so the tranny was flushed, the mounts were repaired and $1300 later the car was singing...for a week. It's now again occasionally having difficulty starting when cold. While driving on the freeway, the acceleration seemed to mysteriously cut out. Some kind of fuel delivery problem caused by pothole impact?

The pothole wasn't THAT big. It shouldn't have done this kind of damage. And even the thought of tranny failure at 50K just leaves me awestruck. I wanna love this thing, but it inspires no confidence.
