The spring and the old style wiper both combine their faults to make the wiper less efficient. Good luck trying to find a new spring that works properly.

Your best bet is to find one of those new fangled internal spring wipers that will fit on the narrow arm. I bought my wiper blade from the dealer about 4 years ago, the first couple of wipes don't do diddly but gets better after about 12 wipes.
