Engine warm up when very cold

I let mine idle for a bit too, not as much as I used to but 4 or 5 minutes seems to yield less moaning sounds from the car when its freezing outside here as well. I am at 199,019 miles as of this morning so I am close to the 200k mark and not about to ask an "old salty dog" of a car to be a hero when its sub zero outside, when the car warms up however its fair game ;)
