I picked up a two owner '01 S40 about a year ago for my daughter.
Have put about 10K miles on it since (now at 155K).

Did have to put brakes, alternator, catalytic converter on it and give it a 150K tune up. I consider these to be maintenance issues though.

She loves it. Me? It's just not my kind of car. Too many bells and whistles and it feels too tight inside for my 6'-1" frame.

DIYing can be a challenge as there is no Haynes repair manual for this car. Have has success with on-line forums, but responses are usually limited.
