Re: Engine Warm-Up: How Long? 850 1995

Don't let it idle to warm up. The manual is very explicit in this. They warn of severe engine damage. (How and what I am not sure, but they built it and they have obviously tested it.) FWIW, My VW Jetta with VR6 said the same thing in the manual. I have a routine of starting the car, adjusting my trousers, turning on my favorite Simon and Garfunkel CD, and driving gently out of my neighborhood. I drive like an old lady (avoiding the boost area of the turbo guage) till the temp guage is 1/4 way into the good zone. Once there I still pamper the car a little, but will use a bit of boost if the situation warrants. Once the car has been up to temp for a while, I put in my Creed CD and then drive like a typical generation Y'er. BTW, my car now has 166252 miles on the clock and is still eating Z3's on the way into work.
