Hello All,
I am in the process of doing a PCV job on my early 94 n/a 850. I took out the intake manifold today and have some questions:
1. My car has 175,000 on it, should I change out the knock sensors while I have easy access to them?
2. I always read to make sure the bottom port is cleaned out. When I put a screwdriver in there I hit metal after about 2 inches. Is this correct? (I have a small mirror to see btw)
3. I haven't started the car in about 6 months. Should I squirt some motor oil on top of the valves while I have access to it?
4. When I took off the intake manifold, there was a gizmo on the bottom that looks like an EGR valve. Any ideas what this is? Should I replace it, take it off and clean it out?
5. Does anyone know where I can find a diagram for the maze of hoses on this thing?
6. While I have the intake manifold off, what should I use to clean it out? I was thinking Sea Foam that comes in the spray can, engine degreaser or carb cleaner.
I know its a lot, but this is my first shot at doing the pcv. I had oil coming out of the top of the engine by the sparkplugs. I tightened the hose, but that didn't help. Also, I was getting smoke from the dipstick so I figure its about time. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Regards,
Edward
