I use my laptop and this cheap USB one It reads O2 sensors, air flow, coolant temp, fuel trim and a few other things I can't recall at the moment. On other cars (like the SO's Buick) it reads fuel and manifold pressure, but not on any of my Volvos. For <$20 I think its money well spent. Unlike Klaus, I've probably averaged 10 codes/year over the last few years. Granted, most of them come from me unplugging components or vacuum leaks. Still, resetting them is nice.

If you're not driving it "like its stolen," are you really driving?
