Yes, the fluid that is coming out once you start the car in park will be fluid being pumped out by the transmission. After a while you will run out of fluid, or you will see air bubbles, stop the engine and add fluid from the dip stick tube. The hole in the radiator from the connector being off will not be a problem, nothing will come out. Doing the flush using the top hose, you will not have to remove the battery.
