On the 2001, the tailgate unlocks with the rest of the doors. One turn of the key unlocks the drivers door and gas door only. Turn the key again, the other three doors and the tailgate unlock. There is no tailgate only switch like earlier cars. Pressing the lock button on the window switch panel will also unlock/lock the tailgate along with the other doors.
