It can't hurt to ask for a warranty replacement if the diagnostics prove that your ETM is bad. Possibly under Chinese ownership, Volvo will try a new philosophy: courteous customer support for owners who are out of warranty. I thought Volvo USA absolutely rotted under the Ford era.
