Bad Water Pump 850

I would be most concerned about your statement that you overtightened a bolt to a point that it sheared-off.

I have not had the pleasure of replacing the water pump on my 850, so I don't know some of the specifics, but I assume that we are talking about steel bolts threaded into an aluminium block.

To have exerted enough torque to shear-off a bolt means that you were exerting quite a bit of torque--far, far more than the bolt was originally intended to handle and, from my experience, far, far more that the aluminium block was intended to handle.

You've stated that, once you replaced the bolt, everything was fine. Did you tighten that new bolt reasonably tight, or did you not tighted that bolt fearing that the block threads were compromised and you didn't want to risk overtightening the bolts again?
