Thanks for the tips. I tried getting the clip that goes to the top of the motor mount out, but with no luck. An alternative extraction method then dawned on me.
I got out the BAW (big ass wrench) and made sure I could loosen the old sensor. I found I could unscrew the sensor entirely with the wires still attached to the motor mount. Once the old sensor was out I threaded the new one into the hole. Entirely confident that the new sensor was ready to hook up, I cut the four wires to the old sensor. I could then pull the old wiring out through the top. I then ran the new harness up over the motor mount and used a zip tie to secure it. Far less pain than the standard method.
