the code did clear when i installed in and now since i messed with it this morning its back on. (the 1633 code)
I did check check the fuse for the abs and it was ok
i did just disconnect the battery for 20 mins and hooked it back up and all the lights are still on
I didnt want to drive it not knowing what kind of damage it would do and not sure if thats what you meant when you say the car will go through the drive cycle to relearn.
The problem should have happened when the old ABS unit died, and should have cleared with the new/refurbished ABS installed.
If your daughter drove the car without the ABS installed, check the fuse for the ABS.
A really good code reader should be able to clear the codes. Or, you could try disconnecting the battery terminals for 15-20 minutes - this will reset your computers and the car will have to go through the drive cycle to re-learn.
