It also could be the upper shock bearing mount that screws down on top of the shock. I just replaced all 4 shocks with Bilsteins and still get a rattle sound over certain bumps. This part (Volvo part no. 9461728) is about 25.00 and is sort of akin to a rubber bushing. I will replace mine and let you know if this remedies it.
