So within hours of doing the deal and driving away, he and a pal are "trying out the AWD system" by getting the car sideways in a big gravel parking lot. Oil pressure warning light comes on, but at least after 9 years of 240 ownership he knows enough to shut down and get towed to a shop.
The indie Volvo shop charges him $500 to R&R the pan, and replace the O-ring on the tube that connects the pump to the engine block and change oil and filter. I think that was the story - I know that is the pump setup on the red block 4's.
A little late for this, but are there any weak points to be aware of on this model? Any special recommendations for maintenance issues or to override factory recommendations for fluids and so on? (He will be using Mobil-1 5W30 in the engine.)
Thanks!
