If you have worn tie-rod ends, it'll be obvious and they're not a common wear item on 850s. Don't guess either, if you can't see and properly diagnose a suspension problem, take it to someone with experience.

Tie-rod ends (either end) are really not a DIY job because it can't be done right without an alignment (counting the threads isn't good enough).
