As Ray says the signatures are not required for the warranty....in the US. This is because the Moss-Magnuson Warranty Act (which does not apply only to cars) expressly prohibits warranties that are tied to after-sales service by the seller or his agents. There may not be similar laws in other countries (I have no idea) so dealer service (and signatures) may be required for warranty purposes elsewhere.
