I concur with Klaus' diagnosis. Sounds like you blew the head gasket. When all the coolant evacuated through the blown core.

When my heater hoses blew, I bypassed the heater system and the junction block with a piece of heater hose and a couple clamps.

I'd recommend bypassing as I did and isolating the problems to the engine for a deeper diagnosis
