Trans Service V70-XC70 2003

Funny too, there is nothing in the maintenance schedule about changing the fluid. But I will tell you this; there is a definite improvement in operation when the system is flushed.

There are also a number of things you need to watch out for.

There is a coolant loop through the radiator. At one point they changed the direction. In other words, during several model years the top hose was the return. In other years it was the bottom.

The connection uses a special clamp and O-rings. You need to have these on hand.

Depending on who manufactured the transmission, you may need special Toyota/Lexus/Volvo/Aisin-Warner fluid. If you use something else it’s good bye transmission. The fluid can be purchased at a Toyota dealer or Mobil distributor as 3309 type.

If you look in the past posts and search the internet you’ll find a lot of information on how to do this. Just like flushing a RWD 940 AW70…..

There may even be a pdf on the IPD site.
